Summary: Markuran asks Cerin for advice, after his talk with Selonis.

XP:C1, M1

After returning from his meeting with Selonis, Marku began searching out Cerin. The Lion had puzzeled him and the burly Zenith hoped that Cerin might be able to help him figure some things out, if he was around without Zahara. This was not a topic to be aired in her presence.

  • Cerin is down in his rooms, his desk covered in a small blizzard of notes and maps and diagrams.

<Cerin?> "The door is unlocked." he annouces just before Marku knocks.

  • Markuran steps inside, looking around. "How'd you know I was there?"

<Cerin?> "Your footsteps. Please, take a seat..." he sets down the quill and turns to face him.

  • Markuran drops himself onto a chair after politely moving its contents onto the floor. "I met with Selonis. I think he will help, but he said he isn't allowed. And if he is discovered, he will be forever destroyed by the Sun for his treason."
  • Cerin raises an eyebrow "That is interesting news."

<Cerin?> "What aid did you ask of him?"

<Markuran?> "Any aid. I think he agreed to lend us his essence, but he left before he would speak further. I will see him again in a month."

  • Cerin nods, looking thoughtful "And he said the Sun himself forbade him from interfering? Interfering with what?"

<Markuran?> "Matters of Creation, I assume. He said Celestial Gods could not get involved."

<Cerin?> "That would fit with the fragments we discovered though. The gods of Creation are not allowed in Heaven, after all."

<Cerin?> "I would now guess it is the Sun who has barred all Exalts from Yu-Shan too. Hmmm."

  • Markuran nods. "I think we must speak with him and ask him to see that the world has changed."
  • Cerin nods.

<Markuran?> "Do you know how we can do this?"

<Cerin?> "You are his priest. Perhaps if more people worship his glory he will listen again. I am not sure that I could sneak into Yu-Shan to talk to him myself."

  • Markuran shrugs his broad shoulders, looking unhappy. "I have heard his voice only once. And I have seen little sign of his care for the world but to send us back into it, I fear he does not listen to us. That is why the world is so dark."

<Cerin?> "Then do something about it!" Cerin speaks "Come with me to Ssithumi, talk to her about her people's worship of the sun. Talk to your tribal leaders, to the leaders of the Marukani, the Crosanti, get them to pray to the Sun. If enough people talk he will listen at some point."

<Markuran?> "I had begun such works. But now with the army of false Exalted against us, I let the idea drop."

<Cerin?> "Why?"

<Markuran?> "I have been busy with other things."

  • Cerin nods "It might be wise to consider it. We will need recipients for all the essences we plan to imbue people with. It would be best if they believe in our cause."

<Markuran?> "That is true..I will resume my efforts. I wonder if the Celestial Gods can at least walk in Creation, it would ease the conversion to have Selonis present."

<Cerin?> "You need one such as Selonis at your side to talk to people about your god? Maybe he can? Maybe he cannot? I would start without him. You are a powerful man with words. "

<Markuran?> "I know that. I plan to start without him, but in some of the more restless areas, he would be an asset. He might even help to convince the great cities to the north, Nexus, Great Forks and Lookshy."

  • Cerin shrugs "Impressibe though he is, he is not as grand as you in armour of gleaming gold, shining with the light of the sun, essence wrapped around your every word."
  • Markuran grins. "Probably not. Soon, I'll be ready. If I can train a few priests to convert those I can't myself, the matter won't take long."
  • Cerin nods. "You cannot do everything yourself."

<Markuran?> "Just the things that matter."

<Cerin?> "Just so."

<Cerin?> "Your gem worked wonderfully by the way, my thanks once again."

  • Markuran nods. "You're welcome. Thank you for speaking with me about this. I've got some thinking to do myself..and then I'll be off to begin my work."
  • Cerin nods "I shall get back to my own considerations of Imperial security then. See you later."
  • Markuran removes himself from Cerin's room, putting the papers back on the chair.
  • Cerin sets back to considering the nessesary forged papers and passes. And also sketching a rather unusual set of tools.
